About
I am a solo artist from Seattle Washington. I have been cultivating my music since 2010 with a looping pedal, a keyboard and my voice. More recently, I’ve added Ableton Live and a midi pad to my toolkit. It’s a constant expansion and evolution, and this is just the beginning. I have no idea where my music and style will go.
I am a self-taught musician for the most part. In my youth I played violin in the school orchestra through high school, which gave me a good foundation. But I didn’t do anything musical for nearly two decades after high school. In 2010, I quit my corporate job to pursue a career in writing. Yes, I am also a writer (AfnerWords.com). But my inner voice started screaming at me to SING! So I did. And I realized that I might have switched to the wrong career. Turns out I’m full of songs! Music is clearly my main purpose here. Since then I’ve picked up the keys and music production and been tending to both passions of music and writing.
My sound is hard to pin down. My heart feels full with genres like soul, funk, blues, hip-hop, jazz, electronic and beyond. I love music. Some of my favorite female artists are Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Alice Russell. I am influenced by the music I like to some extent, but my true inspiration comes from my feelings and life. My music is an expression of life as it’s processed through my heart. It heals me and I hope it heals you.
